Counselling and therapy in Chorleywood, North London

Welcome to my website. My name is Judi and I live in Chorleywood; I've been working as a counsellor/therapist for 20 years.

I am a Senior Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As such I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework To ensure that I am working ethically I receive regular supervision.

I have a current DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) often known as a police check, both for working with children/young people and vulnerable adults. I also hold civil liability insurance.

What I love about counselling is watching my clients grow and flourish. I always feel honoured if clients allow me to accompany them on their journey. I hope I can help you clarify your thoughts and feelings and empower you to live the life you want. Have a look at my About Me page for my qualifications etc. and experience.

Clinical supervision for counsellors

Every counsellor has to have regular supervision, and in addition to my counselling work I act as supervisor for qualified counsellors. If you're looking for a clinical supervisor, go to my About Me page for further details, or give me a call to discuss it – my details are at the bottom of the page.

Families and counselling

Everyone is part of a family however small or large. Bringing up children can be very demanding. Sometimes stress can make us forget how to have fun together. Sometimes talking with a counsellor alone or together can help.

When someone we love dies we struggle to accept and come to terms with that grief. Again talking with a qualified counsellor may help.

My therapy approach

I am a Person Centred counsellor. The Person-Centred Approach developed from the work of the psychologist Dr. Carl Rogers (1902 – 1987). This therapy dismissed the idea of the counsellor as ‘expert’ and instead proposed the idea that counsellor and client were equals working together.

The counsellor must be trustworthy, genuine, empathic and show unconditional positive regard towards the client. Go to my Counselling page if you'd like to know more about this approach.

I really love working with children – they are so open and honest. I find that children quickly feel comfortable with me and learn to trust me.
